Cranberry Glades Botanical Area The Cranberry Glades Botanical Area is not only an area of spectacular natural beauty but also a sanctuary that protects many unique and fragile plant and animal species. The Cranberry Glades bring to West Virginia a unique habitat of sphagnum bogs, not unlike those found in the Arctic Tundra. Some of the species of flora that call the Cranberry Glades home have been here for over 10,000 years. A half-mile long boardwalk has been constructed to allow visitors the opportunity to appreciate the array of natural life in the Glades while protecting the delicate ecosystem. Come explore the natural habitats of these rare plants and animals while taking in the wonderful views.
